Other people are supposed to throw you a baby shower. So let them. Sit back, relax, and show up to be showered on the day and at the time they tell you to. At most, send them a list of desired guests and a completed, edited, perfected baby registry. You are doing too much as is what with growing eyeballs and fingernails, let this one be #SEP.
But, if you insist on throwing your own baby shower, you need the following elements:
- A venue – online virtual video chat is perfectly acceptable.
- A time and a date.
- A completed, edited, perfected baby registry.
- Invitations sent to prospective guests.
- A game or two.
- Food and drink if in person.
- Have them create the decorations, if in person.
Everyone gathers, shmoozes, works on creating the decorations, then their attention is called and the game(s) begin. At the end of the games, there is the present ceremony where the parent(s) to be open the gifts. Yes, you have to have a present ceremony. Unlike a lot of other parties, the material support of the upcoming baby IS the point of this event.
